When performing a search in DeLorme software,
you may receive an error message that states, "Find Tab Did Not
Initialize (ISO Error)."
Important:
You MUST download and install the
DeLorme
Magnetic Declination Update before attempting
the scenarios listed below. If you have not installed the update,
you will receive an error message. This only applies to the 2005 version and earlier. This update does not apply to any of the current 2006 versions.
This error may be the result of:
The scenarios below are listed in order of probability. Start with
the first scenario, try the program again, then move to the next
scenario.
Note: It is important to verify that the data disc is in
the CD/DVD-ROM drive that the program was installed from.
Out-Of-Date or Corrupt
ODBC Drivers
If you have out-of-date or corrupt ODBC drivers,
install Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8 and Jet 4.0 (see
instructions for both below).
Note: The correct
version of ODBC and Jet 4.0 for your operating system may need
to be installed to correct this error. If these components are
not available on the installation CD they can be downloaded from
Microsoft's Web site at http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/.
Note:If you have Service Pack
2 installed for Windows XP all you will need is the Jet download
and not MDAC.
To Install Microsoft Data Access Components
2.8
- Click Download MDAC_TYP.exe at the bottom
of this section. The File Download dialog box displays.
- In the File Download dialog box, select the option to save
the file to your hard disk drive.
- Select a location on your computer where you want to save
MDAC_TYP.exe. Do not change the file name.
Tip: You may want to save the file to the
desktop as it may be easier to find again.
- Click Save. The File Download dialog box
displays as the file is being downloaded and indicates when
the download is complete.
- Close your Internet browser and exit any other programs
that are currently running, especially any DeLorme programs.
- Locate the MDAC_TYP.exe file and double-click
it. The Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8 Setup begins.
- Select the I accept all of the terms of the preceding
license agreement check box.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish to install the Microsoft Data
Access Components.
- Click Close when the installation is complete.
- Follow the steps to install Jet 4.0 (below).

To Install Jet 4.0
- Click Download jet40sp3_comp.exe at the
bottom of this section. The File Download dialog box displays.
- In the File Download dialog box, select the option to save
the file to your hard disk drive.
- Select a location on your computer where you want to save
jet40sp3_comp.exe. Do not change the file
name.
Tip: You may want to save the file to the
desktop as it may be easier to find again.
- Click Save. The File Download dialog box
displays as the file is being downloaded and indicates when
the download is complete.
- Close your Internet browser and exit any other programs
that are currently running, especially any DeLorme programs.
- Locate the jet40sp3_comp.exe file and double-click
it. The Jet 4.0 setup begins and closes when the installation
is complete.

Re-register
the Components of the Program
Use the following steps to reregister the components
of the program.
- Close all open applications.
- Double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.
- Double-click the C: drive.
- Double-click the Program Files folder.
- Double-click the program folder for the DeLorme program (i.e.
Street Atlas USA 2004, XMap, or Topo USA 5.0).
- Double-click delorme.bat (or delorme
if the system has been configured not to show file extensions).
Incorrect Date
Use the following steps to verify the date is
displaying correctly on your computer.
- Close all open applications.
- From the Start menu, point to Settings and then click
Control Panel.
- Double-click the Date/Time icon.
- If the date is incorrect, make the necessary adjustments.
- Click Apply if changes were made.
- Click OK.
- Try running the program again to see if the error returns.
Non-English
Versions of Windows or Non-English Regional Settings
Ensure that the Language for non-Unicode programs is set to
English.
- Close all open applications.
- From the Start menu, point to Settings
and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Regional and Language
Options icon.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Ensure that the Language for non-Unicode programs is set to
English.

Drives
using MS DOS Compatibility Mode
Follow these steps to determine the problem:
- Close any open applications.
- Right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties
from the shortcut menu.
- Click the Performance tab. If there are any drives
using MS-DOS? Compatibility mode, contact the manufacturer for
the correct drivers or setup procedures to get the drives out
of MS-DOS Compatibility mode.
Corrupted
installation
Follow the steps outlined in "Performing
a Diagnostic Installation" if:
- The drive letter for the CD/DVD-ROM Drive has changed.
- A browse window was used when starting the program.
- The system date and time are correct.
- The other scenarios did not resolve the error.
