Welcome to the Updated Pro Newsletter
New Format—Same Informative Articles
The XMap team is pleased to introduce a new look for the DeLorme Professional Newsletter. As you will see below, we have condensed the e-mail format into a series of article summaries with links to the full content on DeLorme's Web site and blog pages. This new layout allows you to quickly browse each month's features list and select the articles that are of most interest to you.
For February's edition, we are beginning a new feature called the XMap Gallery. Each month, we will highlight a unique XMap-generated map incorporating data from a wide variety of sources. To begin the series, we take an interesting look at the varied land cover in the country of Afghanistan.
As always, we welcome your comments, suggestions, and even criticism. Send us an e-mail at newsletter@delorme.com.

XMap Gallery
This month we introduce a new feature to the newsletter that spotlights interesting applications of XMap and the wide variety of datasets that are available for importing or viewing within the software.
We begin with a map displaying detailed land cover for Afghanistan. The data from which the map was created was downloaded from the Afghanistan Information Management Service's GIS Web site in shapefile format. After importing into XMap, it was classified to illustrate the wide variety of land cover types in the country.
